Mr. Drew, dog workshop on Oxford County 4-H September schedule

Aug. 202021

SOUTH PARIS – Oxford County 4-H is hosting two animal-based programs in September.
Mr. Drew & His Animals Too will be at the Oxford County Fair 4-H Exhibit Hall from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17. Drew Desjardins will provide an up close and hands-on learning experience with some of the animals from his natural science and exotic animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Lewiston.
4-H will hold a dog workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Oxford County Cooperative Extension Office, 9 Olson Road.
Many Oxford County youth and families have added dogs to their home over this past year and half. Because of the many requests for a dog club, 4-H is starting off by trying a dog workshop. A certified trainer will be at the session, work with dogs and families, and practice some obedience training.
The workshop is open to youth ages 8 to 14, accompanied by a parent or parents, or guardian, and dogs six months old and up.
More details (including vaccination requirements) can be found on the registration page. The workshop is free, but registration is required online at extension.umaine.edu/register/product/4-h-dog-workshop/
Those interested in joining a dog club may stay after the meeting to discuss working with other families to make it happen.
