Central Maine Maine Maritime Academy graduates recognized for achievement

CASTINE – Several resident of central Maine are among this year’s Maine Maritime Academy graduates who received academic recognition.
MMA announced 28 awards to honor 35 graduating students who have demonstrated academic excellence, exemplary character and an enduring commitment to the college’s community. The announcement follows this spring’s Commencement Ceremony and the recent completion of U.S Coast Guard exams.
Receiving awards were:
Alesha Gregoire, of Lewiston, was recipient of the Nathan Corning Award at Maine Maritime Academy. The award recognizes excellence in Marine Science.
Morgan Boudreau, of Benton, American Bureau of Shipping Award, which goes to the graduate with the highest honors in mathematics and physics; and the Maine Maritime Academy Parents Association, to the student who displayed the most advancement in all areas of study.
Sayre Pono, of Skowhegan, received the Captain Allan K. Cameron Jr., USN Retired Memorial Award, which goes to the student who earned the top score on the engine license exams.
Ethan Boucher, of Rumford, earned the Captain Arthur Fournier Award, for outstanding performance in tug and barge operations.
Andrew Todd, of Skowhegan, earned the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots Award, which goes to “the seaman you’d most like to sail with.”
