Western Maine Art Group begins 2021 season with self-portrait show

NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group begins its 2021 season of exhibits at the Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Main St., with its very first exhibit of self portraits.
The show opens from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, with opening remarks at 6 p.m. by exhibit curator Jud Pealer and a brief talk by artist Michael Everett about the history of the self-portrait. The show will continue at noon on Saturday, May 22, and noon to 3 p.m. on subsequent Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through June 12.
The portraits by group members and other local artists may be representational, stylized, whimsical, caricature, or abstract but, we hope, in all cases surprising and delightful, exhibit organizers said.
The Western Maine Art Group’s galleries and exhibitions are free and open to the public.
