Norridgewock community roadside cleanup is April 22-25

NORRIDGEWOCK — The town and Waste Management have organized a four-day roadside cleanup day, which will run from April 22 to April 25.
The Thursday through Sunday event allows the opportunity for friends and families to choose what time might work best for them to participate and still be able to contribute to the community. There is no need to report what road (or section of road) you will help pick up — do whatever works best for you!
Clear trash bags will be available for no cost at the Town Office beginning April 15, which should be used for roadside trash. The bags can then be left on the shoulder of the road for pickup or brought to the Town Office for deposit into a waste container.
Given the season, here are a handful of safety tips for anyone who is participating in this program or just being a good neighbor:
* Work on one side of the road at a time; don’t zig-zag in front of traffic
* Wear a bright colored shirt or jacket to increase your visibility
* Wear gloves to protect your hands from sharp objects. Leather gloves are suggested
* Wear closed-toe shoes. Leather boots or shoes with good soles are recommended
* Always work facing traffic; don’t turn your back to oncoming cars
* Watch your footing. Stay off of/away from steep slopes, trenches, or any drop-off
* Avoid using headsets/earphones, which can prevent you from hearing oncoming traffic
* Do not pick up anything that could be hazardous to your health. This includes needles, syringes, jagged glass, animal carcasses, etc.
Inquiries about this event can be directed to the Town Office at 207-634-2252 or via email at townmanager@townofnorridgewock.com.
