Benton KVCC student named Academic Team Silver Scholar

FAIRFIELD — Adrian Hoyt, a student at Kennebec Valley Community College, has been named a 2021 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar.
Hoyt, of Benton, will receive a $1,250 scholarship. Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies and will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, to be held virtually April 8-10.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually.Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.
“I have had the pleasure of working directly with Adrian in his role as a member of the shared governance group of KVCC,” said Richard Hopper, president of Kennebec Valley Community College. “He is remarkable for his commitment, engagement and drive. This award is not only a clear recognition of Adrian’s past actions, but of his future promise. I’m immensely proud that he has been recognized for this honor.”
