Flags fly at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta on a recent fall day. Veterans Day is Nov. 11, when Americans pause to remember the sacrifice veterans make in service of the country. A variety of virtual ceremonies are planned for Veterans Day Wednesday. Two area celebrations are:
A free drive-up coffee and muffin event from 9-11 a.m., hosted by American Legion Post 135, in Sabattus. All veterans are welcome to drive up to the Legion post, at 40 Island Road, for a free muffin, coffee and thanks for their service.
