AUGUSTA — The Maine Council on Aging will host a virtual version of the 7th annual Wisdom Summit — “Preparing for the Future – A Conversation with State Leaders” — supporting resilience and growth in the midst of a pandemic.
The virtual summit will connect participants to innovations and collaborations that have emerged in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and inspire participants to envision how to use this crisis as a launching point for bold solutions and big ideas, building towards the goal of making Maine a place where all can live healthy, engaged and secure lives.
The summit will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16 and Wednesday, Sept. 23; participants may take part in separate sessions, a day or the full summit. The event is online; no travel required. Some have described Maine’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic as inspiring. State officials, healthcare leaders, aging services providers, municipalities and community volunteers have all done their part to make sure Maine residents and visitors stay healthy and get the information, support and services needed. The summit will begin what promises to be a long journey with the pandemic, and as organizers have noted, it is critical to take stock of what has been learned in order to highlight emerging trends and to build momentum preparing for the future.
Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice CEO Ken Albert will serve as moderator.

Topics vary and include sessions such as “Future of Maine’s Economy, Workforce & Aging Services in the Era of COVID,” Garrett Martin, executive director, Maine Center for Economic Policy, and a workforce roundtable discussion featuring Joy Gould, healthcare workforce development, DHHS; Mary Jane Richards, North Country Associates, and Mike Stair, Care & Comfort.
