Biologist Logan is Topsham Garden Club Jan. 8 guest

TOPSHAM — The Topsham Garden Club will meet at noon Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road.
Featured speaker will be Barry Logan, plant physiological biologist and department chair of Biology at Bowdoin College. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Logan will speak on his research on conifer forests, especially those on Monhegan Island. He is a recent recipient, together with several colleagues, of a National Science Foundation grant to study conifer forests from the Pacific Northwest to Florida.
Following the talk, there will be a brown bag lunch, with beverages and desserts prepared by members of the club. A brief business meeting will conclude the program.
The Topsham Garden Club meets at noon on the second Wednesday of the month, usually at the Topsham Library. Its programs are open to the public without charge, and the topics are published in the library’s calendar.
