Embden Historical Society 2020 schedule set

EMBDEN — The Emden Historical Society has set its meeting schedule for the year 2020.
The society meets the second Monday of the month, with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m., in the Embden Town House, 751 Cross Town Road, unless otherwise noted. The society does not meet December through March.
Meetings are free and open to the public.
The 2020 schedule of meetings and other events is:
Monday, April 13: Properties, Trails & History of Somerset Woods, slide presentation by Jack Gibson, Embden Community Center, 797 Embden Pond Road.
Thursday, May 7, 9 a.m., clean Town House and grounds. Rain date is Friday, May 8.
Monday, May 11: Forks of the Kennebec (1818-19 building Canada Road, first settlers, early bridges, timber speculators and more, by Marilyn Gondek.
Monday, June 8: History and Tour of the South Solon Meeting House, by Andy Davis. Car pool to Solon Meeting House, 1 Meeting House Road, from the Town House at 6:30 p.m.
Monday, July 13: The 1947 Fires in Maine, Could it Happen Again? Two old short films; discussion by Kent Nelson, forest ranger specialist.
Monday, Aug. 10: Winter Walk in Maine and Labrador, by Alexandra Conover-Bennett.
Monday, Sept. 14: Annual pot luck meal and annual meeting and election of officers, social time, 4:30 p.m.; meal, 5 p.m.. Drinks, plasticware and plates provided, members bring choice of casserole/salad/bread/pickles or dessert, home of Jim and Jenny Lightbody, 133 Kennebec River Road, with tour of the Lightbody Museum.
Monday, Oct. 13: Embden’s Changes Over the Last 200 Years, by Bob Donovan.
Monday, Nov. 9: Harvest Fest, pot luck and Yankee swap, meal chairpersons are Lois Erickson, Larry Witham and Elaine Jillson. Bring potluck main dish or salad & $5 unisex wrapped gift to swap.
