LEWISTON — Pathway Vineyard Church is hosting a Night to Shine Prom on Feb. 7 at the church. The free event, in partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation, is for people with special needs 14 and over at the church’s 12 Foss Road location. Pathway Vineyard also has locations in Gray and Brunswick.
Pathway Vineyard Church will be one of hundreds of churches around the world registered to host Night to Shine 2020. It will be held by church simultaneously on Feb. 7. Pathway Vineyard is excited about being part of the worldwide movement that is uniting churches of different denominations all over the world with the common goal of celebrating people with special needs in God’s love, organizers said in a news release.
Every participant enters on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors, a dance floor… all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom. The Tim Tebow Foundation has committed nearly $3.5 million in financial support to hundreds of churches needing assistance in hosting the event.
Night to Shine launched in 2015 with 44 host churches and 15,000 volunteers honoring more than 7,000 kings and queens of the prom. In 2019, 655 host churches and 200,000 volunteers came together to celebrate 100,000 honored guests with special needs. In 2020, the foundation anticipates 800 churches will host the event.
