SKOWHEGAN — The annual Riverfest begins Tuesday, July 30, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 4.
The festival kicks off at 4:30 Tuesday with a walk along the river, led by Main Street Skowhegan’s AmeriCorps members, from Coburn Park to the walking bridge downtown, down the Debe Park River Walk and back to Coburn Park. The night also includes a free movie at Margaret Chase Smith School, community storytelling at Coburn Park.
Events in the following days include yoga on the beach, the Lions Club chicken barbeque lunch and dinner, Classic Car Cruise-In, Skowhegan Community Band Concert, kayak races, Moonlight Madness downtown, including the famous Bed Races on Water Street, the Skowhegan Rotary Club Lobster Bake, the Chamber Drivers and Duffers Golf Classic, the Riverside Scavenger Hunt, the Run of River Support Paddle, movies at Lakewood Theater, a Glow Stick River Run, the Skowhegan Farmers’ Market, a Main Street Craft Fair, Family Fun Day Activities on the weekend, Paddle the Wesserunsett, Barbecue by the Kennebec, Raft Rides, Family Fun at Island Dairy Treat, Story Walk, Dinner in the Park at Coburn Park, fireworks on Saturday, and culminates with a Sunday concert in the park with Borderline Express.
