Film ‘Dawnland’ to be shown July 11 at Telstar High School

BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust and the West Parish Congregational Church are co-sponsoring the film screening of “Dawnland” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Telstar High School, 284 Walkers Mills Road.
The documentary highlights the government-sanctioned practice of removing Native American children from their homes, devastating parents and denying children their traditions, culture and identity and explores the possibilities of healing and reconciliation.
A panel conversation and question and answer session with Mara Girouard,executive director of Maine-Wabanaki REACH, Mishy Lesser, co-director of “Dawnland,” learning director for the Upstander Project, and Education Fellow at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center at the University of Connecticut, and April Fournier, a Diné/Navajo and special services manager at Promise Early Education Center in Lewiston will follow the screening.
Refreshments will be served, and attendance certificates will be available for CEUs.
