FAIRFIELD — Kennebec Valley Community College will host its 49th commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Augusta Civic Center.
The college will confer 478 degrees and certificates to the Class of 2019.
Approximately 300 of those graduates will participate in the commencement exercises. This also marks the 50th anniversary of KVCC’s founding.
The KVCC Student of the Year is asked to address the graduating class; this year, Keith Giles of Fairfield, a graduate of the culinary arts program, will provide remarks. He was selected as the 2019 Student of the Year among 22 finalists.
In recognition of the college’s 50th anniversary, the keynote speaker at this year’s commencement will be Barbara Woodlee, president emerita of KVCC. Woodlee became the first woman to serve as a college president within the Maine Technical College System. She was inducted into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
