WINTHROP — CODA Chorus, the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony and the Pineland Suzuki players will join forces on Saturday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 7, for their annual spring concerts.
Both shows are at 7 p.m. at Hope Baptist Church.
The combined feature will present “Gloria” by Antonio Vivaldi, a joyous masterpiece of Baroque music, where they will be joined by professional soloists Mary Sullivan, soprano, and Joëlle Morris, mezzo-soprano. CODA Chorus, KVYS and the Pineland Suzuki players will also perform brief selections from their repertoire.
CODA Chorus, led by Morris, is an all-inclusive community chorus that provides local singers of all backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to join one another in song.
Comprising talented middle and high school students, the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony is modeled on professional orchestras, playing a wide variety of original orchestral compositions, including full concertos in both the fall and spring programs. KVYS is conducted by Jinwook Park, who performs, direct, and teaches in Boston and at Colby College.
Led by Betsy Kobayashi and Ellen Gawler, the Pineland Suzuki School serves young violinists, violists and cellists in central Maine.
The concerts are free and open to the public, and a free-will offering is accepted for admission.
