Art of dialogue writers workshop is March 21 at Waterville Public Library

WATERVILLE — “Speaking and Listening: The Art of Dialogue,” a workshop for writers, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, March, 21, at Waterville Public Library, 75 Elm St.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will be facilitated by Sarah Braunstein.
Good dialogue can bring enormous vividness and music to prose, as well as forward plot, illuminate character and reveal theme. But writing dialogue is not always intuitive, in part because dialogue is not merely transcribed speech. The workshop will discuss what makes good dialogue and explore methods of capturing and distilling the music of speech.
Participants should bring something to write on and with — a laptop, iPad, pad of paper, etc.
Seats are limited; registration is required at speaking-and-listencing.eventbrite.com
