LISBON FALLS — Beverly Robbins, Maine state vice-regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will be the guest speaker at the Wednesday, March 13, meeting of the Lisbon Historical Society.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the MTM building, 19 School St. Robbins also serves as vice-president of the Androscoggin Historical Society as well as program director for that group.
Robbins is also regent of the Mary Dillingham/Burnt Meadow Chapter of the Lewiston/Auburn DAR. With this extensive background, she will tell about some of the history of the DAR, as well as recount some of the accomplishments of this service organization that is now part of American history.
“The Daughters of the American Revolution have been around, well, since just after the American Revolution, when women wanted to memorialize their father Patriots and were denied admittance to the Sons of the American Revolution, but,” she says, “today’s DAR is not the same as your Grandmother’s!”
