Waterville Public Library workshop on memoir writing is Jan. 29

WATERVILLE — Colby College professor Michael Burke will lead a workshop on the nature, features and tools of the personal essay and memoir from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Waterville Public Library.

The session will begin with a brief description of the features and tools of both the personal essay and memoir writing. Following this introduction, participants will respond to writing prompts designed to generate the beginnings of an essay or memoir, and will be invited to share the results with others in the workshop.
The session is appropriate for anyone 18 and older. Participants should bring something to write on and with — laptop, ipad or pad of paper.
The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to 20 participants and registration is required at tellingthetruthmemoirs.eventbrite.com.
Burke is a professor of english and creative writing, and director of Colby’s Creative Writing Program.
