January events for kids, teens scheduled at Waterville Public Library

WATERVILLE — A variety of programs for children and teens are scheduled at the Waterville Public Library in January.
All programs are free and open to the public, but most of the children and teen programs have age restrictions.

Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. are Teen Game Night, and Dungeons and Dragons (5th edition) will be played on the first and third Monday. Pre-made characters will be available for newcomers. The adventure party will be limited to the first six attendees to arrive, but others are welcome to observe. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own dice if possible, but some extras will be provided.
Also available are video games, board games and more. Game night is free and open to those ages 11 through 18.

Homeschoolers are invited to meet at the Waterville Public Library from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursdays for games, crafts, speakers and more. There will be an activity in the children’s department for attendees in first through sixth grade, and an activity in the Bartlett Room for Teens for attendees in sixth through 12th grade. The activity will change every week.
Activities include Legos for the younger crowns and bookend painting for teens on Jan. 3; robot story time and video games Jan. 10; owl luminaries for the younger kids, with the teen activity to be announced Jan. 17.
On Jan. 24, Disney Apples to Apples will be featured for kids, and Settlers of Catan for teens; on Jan. 31, there will be a STEAM activity for kids, and marshmallow toothpick challenge for teens.

In the Children’s Department from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Satur-Play is available. Activities include Jan. 5, winter color craft; Jan. 12, family winter story time; Jan. 19, Legos; Jan. 26, geometric snowman papercraft.

Teen Movie Night is a at 4 p.m. Thursdays. The movie is free and open to all kids 11 to 18.
