Embden Maine Historical Society 2019 calendar announced

EMBDEN — the Embden Historical Society has announced its 2019 meeting calendar, which includes topics ranging from how wood cutting has changed, to the women on Benedict Arnold’s march to Quebec City to the genealogy of the Gray family.

It also includes events such as the annual pot luck supper and annual meeting, and the annual Harvest Fest.
The schedule begins in March, with no meetings in January or February, and ends in November, with the Harvest Fest, and no meeting in December. All Embden Historical Society meetings are on the second Monday of the month. The meetings are at 6:30 p.m., with the program following at 7 p.m., and are free and open to the public. They are at the Embden Community Center, 797 Embden Pond Road in March, April and at the Embden Town House, 751 Cross Town Road during the summer, unless otherwise noted. More details will be announced closer to the meeting times.

March 11: DVD “Cut & Run: Changes in wood cutting in the 70s,: film produced by Richard Searls.
April 8: Women on Arnold’s March in Revolutionary War and what they wore, by Sara Donovan.
May 13: History of the South Solon Meeting House, by Andy Davis.
June 10: Revival of Grain Growing in Mainem by Amber Lambke.
July 8: World War II in Micronesia by Charlie Frear.
Aug. 12: Gray Family, etc. Genealogy (How we may be related), by Jeanne Robinson Moore.
Sept. 9: Annual Pot Luck Meal, tour of the Lightbody’s Museum and annual meeting and election of officers.
Oct. 14: Did “Bambi” Come from Embden? by Reggie Padham.
Nov. 11: Harvest Fest (pot luck)/Yankee Swap.
