WATERVILLE — Nate Towne has been named marketing director at Waterville Creates!, the city’s arts and culture organization.
Towne, who was marketing manager since joining the organization in April 2016, assumed the new role Oct. 1.
As marketing director, Towne will guide and manage the marketing efforts of Waterville Creates! together with its arts-based partner organizations while promoting the greater Waterville region as a vibrant cultural destination in central Maine, according to a news release from the organization.
Towne works closely with the Waterville Creates! team and its collaborative partners to help raise the profile of arts and community-based programming in the greater Waterville area through advertising, social media, websites, event calendars, word of mouth, direct mail, marketing collateral, experiential events and collaborative marketing partnerships. He also coordinates the marketing efforts for the newly launched Downtown Arts Center community capital campaign.
“Nate has overseen the publicity efforts with great enthusiasm and energy and we are thrilled about his new role at Waterville Creates,” said Patricia King, WC!’s vice president. He has worked with the Waterville Opera House and the Maine Film Center to plan, schedule and execute marketing programs that have resulted in increased ticket sales and raised brand awareness.”
Before joining Waterville Creates!, Towne worked at a number of the nation’s leading advertising and public relations agencies, was a syndicated journalist covering news and entertainment, and ran a own public relations firm. He holds a BS in mass communications from Boston University and earned a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Emerson College. He is the co-owner of Christopher Hastings Confections, is the chair of the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council and the communications chair for the Rotary Club of Waterville.
