SKOWHEGAN– One of the city’s biggest fall tourism promotions for the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce — Haunted Hayrides — will return to the Skowhegan Fairgrounds after a one-year hiatus.
The event will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27.
The event brings in hundreds of our community members to have a fun time while raising funds for the chamber, which is partnering with the Cornville Regional Charter School; students and staff will be on hand for the concessions, scenes and volunteering on the nights of the event.
One reason for the success are the diverse scene choices made annually by the volunteers who participate, the chamber said. With walking portions, there is more area than ever to use to make most any scene work. New scenes are the lifeblood of the event, as people want to see what is new and different.
For riders ages 5 and older; the cost is $5 per person.
The second annual Trunk or Treat event will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at Skowhegan Plaza, 338 Madison Avenue (Pizza Hut parking lot). Residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate. Children will come in costume and travel from trunk to trunk in front of the mall for treats handed out at each vehicle. Everyone is encouraged to decorate their trunk, and a prize will be given to the best decorated trunk. We ask that trunk themes are family friendly.
