Warren Alvah Luce
1931-2018

SKOWHEGAN — Warren Alvah Luce, 86, passed away Sept. 15, 2018, at Woodlawn Rehabilitation & Living Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Norridgewock, the son of Frank O. and Velma P. (Perkins) Luce.

He graduated from Madison High School as valedictorian of the class of 1950. He worked on the family farm for a time, then in bridge construction. He would want to be remembered as a common man. Warren was extremely well read and could quote from any Shakespeare sonnet or soliloquy. One of his favorite expressions was “Don’t take any wooden nickels.” He was a man of the earth, and winter was his favorite season.
Warren is survived by his sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Mitchell and husband Rodney of Madison; son Daniel Alvah Luce and wife Raejean of Skowhegan; daughter Jean Finley and partner Daniel Michaud of Vassalboro; grandchildren Erin Salisbury and husband Josh of Skowhegan, Casey Bullock and husband Jason of Randolph, Patrick Finley and partner Christina Ryan of Cambridge, Mass., and Mallory Finley of Wethersfield, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Camryn and Lauren Salisbury of Skowhegan; several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank O. and Velma P. Luce; brothers, Roland, Orion, Robert and George; sisters, Mildred and Elsie.
Per Warren’s request there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Warren’s memory to a favorite charity or organization.
