Children’s Discovery Museum adopts Waterville Parade of Lights

WATERVILLE — The Children’s Discovery Museum, which is moving from Augusta to Waterville next year, has adopted downtown Waterville’s annual holiday parade, which is held the day after Thanksgiving.

The 13th Annual Parade of Lights will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23. Floats will assemble in the parking lot of the American Legion building, 21 College Ave., the museum’s future home.
The parade will travel down Main and continue to Castonguay Square with the lighting of the giant spruce and Santa Claus’s arrival at Kringleville.
Area schools, businesses, churches, organizations and municipalities are invited to participate in the parade by entering a float, marching band or other appropriate entry.
Those wanting to participate may fill out an online form and return it by Nov. 2. This year, to help alleviate the costs to organize the event, there will be a registration fee to participate. The number of floats will also be limited to 35.
Floates should be decorated with a holiday or winter theme and the more lights the better. The only Santa and Mrs. Clause allowed in the parade is the official Kringleville Santa.
