TOPSHAM — The Topsham Public Library has a variety of September events and activities, including book groups and informational talks.
The library is still seeking a few good men to join the Men’s Book Group, which meets this month at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, and usually meets on the third Thursday of the month. This month’s book is “Endurance,” by Scott Kelly.
The library’s Mystery Readers Roundtable will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. Once a month, fans of the mystery genre gather over hot drinks and share their favorite crime novels. This month the group will share summer reading experiences and offer recommendations.
The library’s “Joy of the Pen Writing Competition” registration is open for year-round Maine residents for unpublished works only. Entries will be accepted in the categories of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, Maine-related nonfiction, and teen categories of fiction and poetry. Rare Reads, Thursday (this month only), September 20, 6pm: A book group that discusses unusual and interesting popular fiction (and some nonfiction) that usually meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6pm. We’re always looking for new members – no registration required! This month’s book is _Breakfast at Tiffany’s _by Truman Capote. Email emma@topshamlibrary.org for more details.
Kids’ Drop-in activities, Saturday, September 22, 11am – 2 pm: Various activities will be set up in the children’s section – activities may include art projects, sensory activities, experiments, building activities, and more! Designed for ages 4 and up, but open to everyone with adult supervision.
Library Legos, Saturday, September 22, 1pm – 3pm: Come build with our Lego collection! We have giant bins full of Legos for older kids and Duplos available for younger kids upon request!
The library will be closing at 12pm on Friday, September 28th, for the book sale and will reopen on Tuesday, October 2nd, at our regular time.
