The MAINE NEWS CALENDAR of Events is updated and published online daily. The “calendar week” begins on Saturday and submissions for the digital calendar should be emailed a week or more in advance. Submissions for print should be at least two weeks before the event. Our deadline chart can be found at www.turnerpublishing.net/pdf/Deadlines.pdf. To add an event to either calendar, email articles@turnerpublishing.net.
Regular monthly meetings can be found at the end, as can ongoing events — those that last more than two or three days.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADES AND EVENTS
MAY 28
GARDINER — Smith-Wiley American Legion Post 4 parade; forms at 9 a.m., Gardiner Armory on Brunswick Avenue; begins at 10 a.m.; proceeds down Brunswick Avenue, followed by ceremony on the common.
NORRIDGEWOCK — Parade starts at 9 a.m. at Oosoola Park and proceeds to the Veterans Memorial. 207-634-5445.
SIDNEY — Parades features Messalonskee High School band, Kennebec Valley Chords and a Boy Scout-sponsored barbecue meal following the ceremony; begins at 10 a.m. Town Hall, 2986 Middle Road, 207-649-7528.
SKOWHEGAN — 10 a.m.; lineup at 9:15 a.m. on Dyer Street, which is off Madison Avenue. The parade will be followed by a short ceremony at Skowhegan Veterans Park on Water Street. It is a rain or shine event. Any group is interested in marching or riding to show support for veterans, pet organizers know ahead of time.
WAYNE — Parade assembles 10:30 a.m. in Wayne Community Church parking lot; parade begins at 11 a.m. proceeds down Main Street to Pond Road and back to the Veterans Memorial Stone on Pocasset Lake.
