RUMFORD — The Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts will host a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater on Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26, at the Eagles Hall.
This year’s mystery will take the audience to the Deep South to witness the mayhem caused by Prescott Knight, the eeccentric owner of the Hot Knights Pepper Sauce Company, and his greedy, conniving relatives, who are all waiting for him to die so they can inherit the company fortune.
But he is set on marrying a southern belle 50 years his junior. To add fuel to the fire he has changed his will. Who will be the lucky recipient of all his wealth? His new fiancée? A family member? His best friend? Or perhaps, even one of his faithful servants? But on the day of the big announcement Prescott ends up dead — murdered! Everyone has a motive and the local judge is brought in to solve the crime, however, she can only do this with the help of the audience members.
“Death of a Hot Sauce Salesmen, written by Michael Druce, and directed by Rumford’s Connie Venskus, features RAAPA veteran Wayne Landry, Jen Foster, Dan Rajaniemi, Erica Rickards, Adrianne Graffe, Allan Hagen), Gail Parent, Dawson Walton, Steven Borstelmann, Anita Murphy and Debbie Moon.
Audience members are given a packet of evidence and clues they must decipher to help the judge solve the mystery.
As in past dinner theater productions, the RAAPA chorus will be an integral part of the evening’s entertainment.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for a social hour with cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. The dinner and show will start promptly at 6 p.m. Participants will be served a full sit-down menu (not buffet) which will include bacon-wrapped pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, corn, dinner roll, tossed salad and a brownie sundae dessert. A vegetarian entrée is available by request. Coffee & tea will be provided at no additional charge. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase throughout the night.
