UNITY — The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Certification Services division has announced the opening of the 2018 application period for becoming certified organic.
MOFGA will accept applications through June 30.
Producers interested organic certification in the crop, livestock, and on-farm processing categories should contact the MCS office for more information.
Application forms, materials and resources also are available at www.mofgacertification.org.
MCS accepts processor applications year-round. MCS granted organic certification to 536 farms and processing facilities in 2017, and has experienced a 72 percent growth in the number of certified organic operations since 2012.
