LISBON — Martha Poliquin, 30-plus year resident of Lisbon, has qualified for the ballot for Maine House District 56 (Lisbon/Lisbon Falls) as a Democratic candidate. While new to Maine politics, she is not new to Lisbon community involvement.
Martha was a member of the Lisbon School Board 1995-2001 serving as chairperson for several years. She has been a Pack 109 Den Leader, a Lisbon Girl Scout Troop Leader, volunteer in the Lisbon public schools, co-chair of the Lisbon/SAD 75 Consolidation Consideration Committee 2007-2008, and a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin.
After taking a hiatus from community service to advance her school nutrition career, Martha is compelled by the divisive political climate in Augusta to serve again. “I will use my problem solving and collaboration skills to help address the issues concerning Lisbon and Maine residents. I am committed to listening and being a voice for Lisbon in Augusta.”
Martha’s top priorities are full funding of public education, access for all Mainers to quality affordable healthcare, respecting and enacting voter approved citizen initiatives, and protecting the beauty, resources and economy of Maine.

Martha is a graduate of the University of Maine and also holds an associate degree in culinary arts from Southern Maine Community College. She and her husband Joe raised their three children — Matt, Kate, and Emily — in Lisbon. They are part owners of a small family business. Martha is a school nutrition director with 20+ years experience in school nutrition in Maine. Martha’s 96 year old father lives with them.
