WATERVILLE — Aqua City Actors Theatre will continue its 2017-2018 season — Maine, Manners and Mayhem — with the Tony-award winning “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza (translated by Christopher Hampton).
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 16-17 and 23-24; and 2 p.m. Sundays, March 18 and 25, in Studio 93 at The Center, 93 Main St.
Featuring Juli Brooks, Dana Bushee, Erik Hyatt and Uri Lessing, “God of Carnage” tells the wickedly acerbic tale of two urbanite couples meeting after a playground fight between their 11-year-old sons. Civil conversation soon gives way to honest and sometimes violent outbursts as tensions mount, relationships falter and rum flows.
Director Doree Austin states, “We all like to believe that we’re evolved, civilized adults; polished professional people, who can handle any crisis with tact and dignity. But anyone who’s gone back to the family home for the holidays knows how close to the surface is our inner child. And sometimes that child is a brat.”
