BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will host a special presentation Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Auditorium on the Gould Academy campus, 39 Church St. This event is part of the Land Trust’s 2017 speaker series — “Iconic Places” — which lifts up natural areas in and around our location having particular significance.
Guest speaker Ian Drew, deputy manager of the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, will speak on the history and present opportunities of this lake.
Spanning the New Hampshire-Maine border, Lake Umbagog is the center of an area abundant with wildlife, including coyote, eagle, osprey and moose. The lake and its surrounding forests, wetlands and rivers offer abundant opportunity for exploration, research and recreation. The refuge has been part of an essential conservation link in the northern forests.
