Norridgewock’s Oosoola Days to be Sept. 3-4

NORRIDGEWOCK — The 45th annual Oosoola Days celebration will be held Sept. 3 and 4 at the airport and Oosoola Park.

On Sunday, Sept. 3, events will be based out of Central Maine Regional Airport, 603 Airport Road. A pancake breakfast, with proceeds benefiting CMRA Flying Club, begins at 7 a.m., with the Oosoola Days 5k starting at the airport at 8 a.m. Events during the day will also include touch-a-truck event, at which those attending can get up close with planes, fire trucks, dump trucks, police cruisers, antique vehicles, and more.

There also will be a bounce house and plane rides offered. Darling’s Ice Cream Truck will be at the airport from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise money for the Norridgewock Public Library. The day’s activities will wrap up at 3 p.m. with the Morgan Aviation Candy Drop.

On Monday, Sept. 4, which is Labor Day, a parade kicking off events will begin at 9 a.m., and will proceed from Mill Stream Elementary School to Oosoola Park. At the park, the Norridgewock Sportsman Association will host a barbecue, and there will also be a pet show, horseshoe tournament, egg toss, watermelon eating competition and the annual frog race at 1 p.m.

Additional activities at the park will include a bungee trampoline, vendor and craft tables, dunk tank, float plane rides, face painting and a bounce house.

Oosoola Days is happening rain or shine, but some of the activities may be subject to adjustment or cancellation based on weather. The event is hosted by the town, the Norridgewock Area Chamber of Commerce and the airport. Visit townofnorridgewock.com for more information.
