SKOWHEGAN — Each year Somerset Public Health presents Move More Kids Community Day, filled with free family activities offered to the public as part of Riverfest.
Move More Kids Community Day is sponsored by the New Balance Foundation, and has been a fixture in the downtown since 2010.
The day promotes healthy and active living in Somerset County. Activities are offered by Somerset Public Health and their different community partners, such as the fire department, police department and schools.
This year, children will be able to try the climbing wall, compete in the fireman’s relay race, measure their pitch speed with the police radar, hula hoop, participate in Zumba, and taste test healthy snacks.
This year’s event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in the municipal parking lot behind Hight Chevrolet, 29 Madison Ave.
Children from all over the area get to try new physical activities.
