Winslow resident captures Maine State Jiu-jitsu championship

Sixteen-year-old Ely Yang captured the 2017 Maine State Jiu-jitsu championship title Sunday, June 25, at the Black Fly Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competition in Rangeley. He is the son of Lassandra Von Appen and Keegan Yang of Winslow and a student at Winslow High School. Yang has been studying martial arts since 2006 at Huard’s Martial Arts studio.
