Winslow Public Library presents evening of gardening programs

Jul. 152017

WINSLOW — The Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax St., will host two programs designed to make gardeners more successful. Both are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 17, at the library.

In “Black Gold: All About Composting,” attendees will learn how to easily make free and healthy compost while reducing kitchen, yard and garden waste.
Master composters Ross Nason and Geoff Hill will present the free hands-on program, which will cover topics such as containers, chemistry, do’s and don’ts, compost recipes and troubleshooting your compost pile.
Featured topics include potent and safe fertilizer, moisture retaining to keep delicate plants and flowers from drying out in the hot sun and attractive mulch.
In “Ready, Set, Go Healthy,” plant-based nutritionist Cheryl Farley will present a garden-to-table theme featuring summer salads and heart-healthy, no-oil dressings.
For more information on either of these programs, call 207-872-1978.
