EAST MADISON — The East Madison Days celebration, sponsored by the East Madison Historical Association, will begin 7 p.m. Friday, July 14, with an evening with local authors and music, and run through through Sunday, July 16.
Friday’s event will be at the East Madison Grange building and will feature authors Bob Clement and Katie Ouillette. Clement will talk about his path to becoming an author and do some readings from his books, and Ouillette will read from and sign her book” Two Birds in a Box.” Poems by Florence Burrill Jacobs will be shared, and Bob Choiniere will also entertain on the piano.
Saturday’s events begin at the historical association building and will feature a yard sale and the first East Madison version of the Antiques Roadshow, with Tim Pomelow as the appraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. The public is invited to bring up to three items to be appraised. There is no fee, but a $5 donation is suggested. All proceeds benefit the historical association.
Saturday from 4:30 to 6 p.m., there will be a baked bean/American chop suey dinner at the East Madison Grange. The menu includes biscuits, cole slaw, beet salad, rhubarb crisp and graham cracker pudding. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.
Sunday begins with the yard sale from 9 a.m. to noon, and ends with the hot dog/dynamite luncheon at the fire station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For $5, one can get a hot dog or dynamite, salad, drink and an ice cream sundae. Items are also sold individually.
The East Madison Historical Association buildings will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Membership forms will be available. Membership is $5 per person.
The EMHA meets the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. The building is open the first and third Thursday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. and by request.
