NORWAY — Karen Clarke, RN, BSN, CNIII, has been appointed the new clinical nurse leader of the emergency department at Stephens Memorial Hospital, according to an announcement from Alison Newton, R.N., BSN, senior director outpatient services.
Clarke graduated from University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She possesses 14 years of clinical experience, has outstanding emergency nursing skills and has been a valuable member of the Emergency Services team at Stephens Memorial Hospital since 2008. Present certifications include Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course and Trauma Nursing Core Course.
“Karen has always sought out professional growth opportunities and has been a role model to her peers,” Newton shared. “She represents herself, this organization and the profession of nursing with pride, competence and compassion. Karen’s expertise, innate leadership skills and commitment to Western Maine Health’s values have provided her with a solid foundation to excel in this new position.”
Of her new position Clarke said, “I look forward to my new adventure. I can’t think of a better team to go forward with!”
