Poland Community School student wins Tri-Town Optimist Club’s oratorical contest

POLAND — A Poland Community School sixth-grader will compete April 8 in Utica, N.Y., after winning the Tri-Town Optimist Club’s annua oratorical context for Regional School Unit 16. Nolan Greenwald won first place for his four-minute speech on the topic “What the World Gains from Optimism” when 13 students competed at Minot Consolidated School Jan. 26. Bruce Whittier MIddle School Seventh-grader Emma Bunyea came in second. Nolan’s win advanced him to the Northeast District Competition in Utica.
