Mar. 162017

AUGUSTA — The Mid Maine Chamber of Commerce received the 2017 award for Marketing and Promotion at the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism held March 15. Its efforts included a fully functioning website, www.midmainebass.com, Facebook page — facebook.com/midmainebass — creation and distribution of commercials as well as many other marketing materials. The Chamber also attracted Major League Fishing’s Summit Cup Series and Fishing University to tape and broadcast programs on bass fishing in mid-Maine in recent years.

“Mid-Maine Chamber is an inspiring example of asset-based marketing and the power of storytelling,” said Steve Lyons, acting director of the Maine Office of Tourism. “Telling the story of fishing in their region has helped build awareness of the world-class fishing available in Maine.”

The Governor’s Conference on Tourism Awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that have distinguished themselves through their work and made a significant contribution to the growth of tourism in Maine. A total of 5 awards were announced.
