SKOWHEGAN — John Byron Murphy, 70, passed away Nov. 28 at Cedar Ridge Center. {CAPTION}

He was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Skowhegan, the son of Mark Edson and Nancy Mae (Clark) Murphy.

He spent many years haying for himself and others and then went to work as a millwright for the union of the power company until his retirement. During his time working for the union, he built a mini-mack truck that he enjoyed and had a lot of fun with.

John is survived by a sister, Hildred M. Hamlin of Florida; two brothers, Wayne R. Murphy of Massachusetts and Mark E. Barney of Maine; niece, Julie A. Ward of Georgia; nephew, Keith R. Hamlin of Massachusetts; good friends, Bill Clark and Gary Clark; and many others.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in John’s memory to American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
