Gifts for local school children from employees of Dixfield Discount Fuel

Dec. 82016

RUMFORD — Employees at Dixfield Discount Fuel care about their community and they continue to show their support with their annual toy drive. Office Manager Katie Houghton noted that they’re a family-oriented business. “We pride ourselves on our customer service and want to help local families.”

The drive is so the company can donate gifts for local school-age children in need. This will be their seventh year of doing this — the fourth year at the 1180 Rt. 2 office (Maine Wood Furniture Building).

People can get $10 off a delivery of 100 gallons or more by donating a new unwrapped gift to their office or to a DDF delivery driver. This offer is described in more detail on their webpage at www.dixfielddiscountfuel.com and Facebook page. If a customer cannot get to the office to drop off a gift, drivers will gladly stop by and pick it up – please feel free to contact the office for additional details at 207-562-0972.

Houghton also said the company began their drive in October and it will continue until Friday, Dec. 16. Gifts can be toys, but it could also be something handmade such as mittens or hats. The company presents the gifts on a rotating basis to children of RSU 10 schools. Last year, it was Dirigo Elementary School. This year, it will be the Rumford Elementary School. The gifts will go home with children before they go home for the Christmas break.

Dixfield Discount Fuel, which has been in business since 2000, is continuing to grow, as evidenced by their new oil truck and new propane service truck. They also greeted people at the recent River Valley Pumpkin Fest and showcased their new truck in the Christmas in the Valley Parade.
DDF also creates payment plans to help keep customers more organized and prepared for paying for their fuel throughout the year. Customers can also pay their fuel bills online through the DDF website and they can order their fuel online. It’s very convenient and can be done securely and confidentially.

They offer propane, heating oil, K-1 and a fueling station with on road pumps on Rt. 108 in Peru, with a 24/7 prokee card system and also a 24/7 service department if you are having any problems with your furnace or boiler.

Gift certificates are also available. Besides Facebook and their website, DDF can be reached at 207-562-0972.
