GARDINER – The Cinderella Project of Maine is investing in the well-being of young people in Maine, helping them thrive, and giving them the support they need to excel. The Cinderella Project inspires giving, develops self-esteem, and encourages paying it forward. We create excitement around an amazing new-to-you prom dress while demonstrating financial responsibility to our high school students.
The gowns are given away to any Maine high school student who wants one – all totally free with one stipulation – we ask the recipients to “pay it forward” and do a good deed for someone else. The Cinderella Project of Maine is an inclusive event: any Maine high school students who would like to wear a dress to prom are welcome.
The Gardiner giveaway will be SUNDAY, April 12th, 2026, at Gardiner Area High School in Gardiner from 10am-1pm. There is absolutely no cost for any of the dresses or accessories. Dressing rooms will be available to try on some of our 1000+ gowns, and Cinderella Project Fairy Godmothers will be on hand to assist with the selection process. There is often a line starting early to get the best selection! An additional dress giveaway will be held in Belfast in April.
Dress donations can be dropped off directly at Gardiner Area High School or WCAP in Belfast. The Cinderella Project of Maine is an initiative of Waldo Community Action Partners, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible. Additional pickup locations can also be arranged based on need.
