Readfield Union Meeting House annual Strawberry Shortcake To-Go
READFIELD – On Saturday, June 29th, the Readfield Union Meeting House will once again host its annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival from 1-3 p.m.
In past years, people were welcome to take their strawberry shortcakes out to tables on the Meeting House lawn. However, with construction materials and equipment taking up a large portion of the lawn these days, it seemed a better option to offer the shortcakes to-go only.
Fresh strawberries over shortcake biscuits, smothered in fresh whipped cream — all for the same price of only $5.00.
This year’s Strawberry Shortcake Festival is being solely sponsored by DeWolfe and Wood Rare Books, so all proceeds will be going towards the ongoing, and very visible, restoration of the Meeting House.
The Readfield Union Meeting House is at 22 Church Rd. in Readfield. It has been on the National Registry of Historic Places since 1986 and will be open to visitors during the festival. FMI: Nancy Durgin, 207-685-4481.
