Apr. 62023

SKOWHEGAN – A walking tour of Skowhegan’s Hope Gardens will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6, beginning at Maine Grains Farmers’ Market, 42 Court St.
The gardens, featuring yellow tulips that will be in bloom, are an effort of Redington-Fairview General Hospital and local organizations, businesses and schools, which planted them in the fall to promote the effort in reducing stigma, spreading hope, and building community around mental illness.
A social hour will be held at the Maine Grains Farmer’s Market starting at 9 a.m., with the walking tour beginning at 10 a.m. It will conclude at Maine Grains at noon.
All who have been affected by mental illness, or who wish to spread awareness, are invited to attend.
Besides Redington-Fairview General Hospital, sponsors are Lake George Regional Park, Somerset Public Health, Main Street Skowhegan, Crisis and Counseling, Maine Grains, and Sebasticook Valley Hospital.
