WATERVILLE — The Kennebec Valley Community Action Program is hosting its third annual Community Celebration Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m, at Educare Central Maine, 56 Drummond Ave. (attached to George J. Mitchell School).
This free, family-friendly event will include a climbing wall, bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, a balloon artist, a temporary tattoo station and more! Children’s musician Rob Duquette will perform live from 11:15 a.m. until noon, and the barbecue meal will be served from noon to 1 p.m.
This year there will be a variety of special guests, including Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Moana, Elsa, Batman, Captain America, Spiderman, the Cat in the Hat, the Tooth Fairy and Clifford the Big Red Dog!
In addition, KVCAP tables will be spread throughout the venue, offering program information along with children’s activities, so while their children are entertained adults can learn more about available services and how to access them.
KVCAP was founded in 1965 and is part of a network of more than 1,000 agencies across America, all working at the local level to eliminate poverty and help people build their financial stability.
“We are acutely aware that many families in our community are struggling to make ends meet and paying for family entertainment can be a challenge,” said Suzanne Walsh, KVCAP’s chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to offer an option for families to come together as a community and enjoy a meal and activities together, all free of charge! We are extremely grateful for our business sponsors, who make this event such an amazing success.”
The Kennebec Valley Community Action Program assists people in Kennebec, Somerset, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties. It is a private, nonprofit organization headquartered in Waterville, with offices in Augusta, Skowhegan, Wiscasset, and several outreach locations.
