Spring gardening program is March 20 at Lewiston library

LEWISTON – “Seeds of Spring: L/A Celebration,” a free program on gardening tips to keep the ecosystem healthy will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St.
The presentation will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with a chance to socialize and look through resources, talk to experts and more before and after. Registration is requested, but not required.
Participants may talk with local gardening experts and get free resources, seeds and nursery vouchers.
There will be refreshments and information about the Lewiston and Auburn community gardens and application for plots.
The program will discuss the best gardening practices that keep plants, soil and watersheds healthy, the importance of native plants, eliminating chemical fertilizers, pollinator gardens, and more.
It is for both those new to gardening and experienced gardeners. Bring your questions or expertise and get the chance to socialize and network with other local gardeners.
The program is sponsored by AVSWCD, Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission, St. Mary’s Nutrition Center and the Lewiston Public Library.
