WATERVILLE – Ware-Butler Building Supply has donated nearly $100,000 worth of vinyl siding to Habitat for Humanity to use for future projects, the company announced.
Habitat for Humanity officials said the donation will help as many as 12 families across Maine.
The rising cost and availability of building materials in the past couple years has been a significant challenge for the organization, said Eric Jolliff, Habitat community engagement coordinator of greater Bangor area.
“This donation from Ware-Butler is greatly appreciated and will be used by the Habitat affiliates across the state to construct houses for another 12 families,” Joliff said.
One in six families in the U.S. spend more than 50% of their income on housing. In Maine, that number is one in eight. Better, more affordable, housing creates the ability and financial flexibility for a family to make forward-looking choices.
Ware-Butler Building Supply officials said the company is proud to help provide families and individuals in need with a hand-up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home.
The donation will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor, Habitat for Humanity Seven Rivers, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, Waterville Area Habitat for Humanity, Hancock County Habitat for Humanity, Waldo County Habitat for Humanity, Midcoast Habitat for Humanity and York County Habitat for Humanity.
