Giving Tree of Rangeley kickoff is Nov. 26

The Giving Tree of Rangeley will hold its 35th lighting at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the entrance of Town Park. Santa, as well as the Giving Tree Angel and Elf, will arrive on a fire engine, escorted by the Oquossoc ATV Club.

The Giving Tree of Rangeley is an all-volunteer, all-donation organization that has been helping the community for 35 years. There is still a great need for support in the community this year – for warm clothing and books for children, $30 or $50 IGA gift cards for seniors and $35 gas cards for people going out of town often for medical appointments.
Trees with gift tags will be located around town, so residents pick up tags and shop for a specific gift or gift card. Almost all locations with trees will have a gift drop-off collection box.
Tree will be at IGA (tag pickup only), Rangeley Public Library, Chamber of Commerce, Oquossoc Grocery, Skowhegan Savings Bank, Parkside & Main and Furbish Brew House & Eats.
Choose a tag, buy the gift, and return it, unwrapped, with the tag by Friday, Dec 2. If you cannot make the business hours at any of the drop-off locations, call Marie Sutherland at 617-921-1867.
Financial donations are also accepted, mailed to Giving Tree of Rangeley, P.O. Box 222, Rangeley, ME 04970-0222. Money will be used for volunteer shoppers to buy specific needed items.
Another way to help is to buy an item specifically made to support the Giving Tree of Rangeley, at Ecopelagicon Rangeley Adventure Co., Pond Street. Items for sale include crocheted blankets, greeting cards, and the children’s book “There is an Angel in Rangeley,” which is also available to buy at SoJo’s Studio and Gallery, Main Street.
