“The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.” —Alice Morse Earle
Have you ever made a list of things you wanted to do or experience based on the upcoming season? Have you ever found the season flew by and more than half of the list never happened? This month’s newsletter is a simple reminder that there is no time like now — a statement that will always hold true.
I have a friend who just found out she has only a short time to live, maybe two to five years. If you had a diagnosis like this, how would you live differently?
It is important to remember none of us can see our own clock. James Dean said, “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you will die today.” When Steve Jobs was on his death bed, he shared that if he could do his life over again, he would make different choices after reaching a certain level of financial success. He said he would have spent more time living deeply, immersed in all that surrounded him.
What would we need to do to live life more deeply?
One of my favorite quotes is by Hunter S. Thompson: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’”
Dream. Live. Collect experiences, especially those shared with loved ones. We already know this is where the true wealth lies.
See you all next month.
