Tardiff-Belanger American Legion Post 39 and Auxiliary Unit 39, of Madison, held a Military Child’s Table Setting Ceremony following the installation of officers recently. The ceremony was performed by Unit 39 Chaplin Amy Washburn (left) and Post 39 Chaplin Rich Robinson (right). April is Month of the Military Child, which honors the sacrifices made by military families, with an emphasis on children. The ceremony includes a potted flowering plant, symbolizing how military children flower and flourish where they are planted; a hand spade recognizes they may be transplanted to a new place at a moment’s notice; the birthday hat and unlit candles, baseball, glove and ballet slippers represent special occasions they may miss. The family photo demonstrates America’s strength; an American flag is a reminder that the families are united in their commitment to national service, at home or away. (Submitted photo)
