Oxford County 4-H hosts free events throughout spring

SOUTH PARIS – Oxford County 4-H is hosting a variety of free spring programs for area youths interested in the outdoors and hands-on activities.
4-H For All: Spring 2022 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 24, April 28, May 26; open to youth 5 to 13. The virtual club provides new and potential members and their families a place to learn about 4-H; and to connect youth across the state. Members will choose a project to complete and learn more about 4-H and how to become involved. Register here.
Outdoor Activity Series 2: Citizen Science Vernal Pools. 2 to 3:30 p.m., April 23, outdoor location to be determined. 4-H and Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District exploring and learning about vernal pools, amphibians and other creatures that live there, as well as “Maine Big Night.” Participants will gather data and contribute to citizen science programs to help scientists conduct research. Printmaking & Creating Art in Multiples. 2 to 4 p.m., Oxford County Extension office, 9 Olson Road.
Participants will learn a bit about the history of printmaking, facts about types and styles of printmaking and what simple materials can be used to create prints; they will create stamps and practice printmaking skills while making personalized cards and gift wrap. For youths of all ages. A parent or club volunteer must accompany participants. Register by April 11 here.
Outdoor Activity Series 3: Signs of Spring. 10 to 11:30 a.m., May 15, Roberts Farm Preserve. 4-H and OCSW for a walk at Roberts Farm Preserve in Norway, exploring the trails, observing nature, identifying plants and trees, and looking for signs of spring.
